The National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF) will be hosting the Inaugural Infrastructure Summit and Expo from 8 to 9 September 2022 under the theme, “Harnessing the Potential of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) to Resolve Infrastructure Challenges in Zimbabwe”, at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls.
The Infrastructure Summit and Expo is a high-level dialogue platform that seeks to find ways of putting into practice known and novel strategies of addressing the country’s enduring infrastructure bottlenecks as a means to catapult the nation into the Upper Middle-Income Economy envisaged in Vision 2030. The 2022 Summit marks the first edition of this important event. The theme was reached upon the realisation that being one of the financing options of NDS1, there is need to harness private sector participation in infrastructure investment through PPPs in order to bridge the infrastructure funding gap. PPPs are an alternative source of funding on infrastructure projects and have proved to ease pressure on governments as far as funds for capital-intensive projects are concerned. His Excellency, The President Cde E.D. Mnangagwa has been invited to be the Guest of Honour at the Summit. The two-day event will have plenary sessions with a combination of presentations, expert perspectives and inputs from the Government, private sector and development partners.
